We exist...
To Glorify God Who is our Sovereign;
To present Jesus Christ Who is our Saviour;
To keep in step with the Holy Spirit Who is our Sanctifier,
in order to be a light so lovely in the community that all would be drawn into His presence.
Elgol Parish Church
Elgol - A Place of Stunning Beauty!

The beautiful village of Elgol is host to a view that has been described as "possibly the best viewpoint in Scotland". The magnificent scenery which unfolds before you as you take the journey from Broadford is reward enough to make the 15 miles of twisty, bumpy, single-lane road well worth the effort! And those who have made that journey to worship in the local parish church have known great blessing as they have shared not only in the scenery but also in the warmth of welcome and unity of worship enjoyed amongst the Christians in the village.
The Church

The services in Elgol are held in a little corrugated building and reflect something of the character and culture of the village. There are usually from a dozen to 20 people at the Sunday services which are held at 6pm on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month (On months which have 5 Sundays there is also a service on the 4th Sunday of the month!) If there is someone to play the organ, it is used for accompaniment; otherwise worship is led in the traditional style of a 'presenter' leading the singing and the congregation joining in. At some of the services there is a true slice of Highland life when a Psalm is sung in Gaelic and a Bible passage read from the Gaelic Bible. The singing is led by the 2 church elders in the area, Iain Mackinnon and Donald Macintosh who are also great sources of local information and history available for quizzing after the service!
The church has been recently renovated and redecorated inside with beautiful new carpets, seating and double-glazed windows. The building has served Elgol and the surrounding area for many years; it is situated up-hill and to the right of the main road through the village, before it descends steeply to the car park, pier and shore.
For the Children
The children of Elgol and the surrounding villages of Glasnakille, Drinan and Torrin are also catered for and given opportunity to learn about the Gospel and to worship God together. There is a Sunday School in the Elgol church where Seonaid Mackinnon teaches the children. The Sunday School has proved popular with a great percentage of local kids having enjoyed their time their over the years. A Sunday School also meets in Torrin, in Seonag Anderson's house. There is a monthly children's club held after school in the Elgol village hall where the local kids can enjoy an hour or so of games, actions songs and learning about Jesus.
Things to do in Elgol
There is always a cup of tea after the service so please stay around if you are ever with us. If you are in Elgol during the rest of the week, there is plenty to do: A visit to the village shop which sells just about everything you could need including local artist Hermione Lamond's hand-painted fishing floats; A day out to visit beautiful Loch Coruisk aboard the Misty Isle; A visit to the Coruisk House seafood restaurant or the Cuillin View cafe; fishing off the rocks at the shore; Hill-walking or climbing on the famous Cuillin Hills (some of the best access to the Cuillins is from Elgol); Wildlife spotting (look out for red deer and golden eagles as well as many other types of interesting wildlife!).
