"And the virgin shall conceive and bring forth a son and shall call his name Immanuel, which means "God with us".
With these words the prophet Isaiah initiates an expectation, which finds fulfilment many centuries later. That much is history. What may have surprised the prophet, would be how his words still resonate thousands of years after his utterance.
For weeks, families and schools and churches have gathered to sing carols and enjoy Nativity plays
in celebration of Jesus' coming, his promise to come again and his continual coming into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. The other day somebody sent me the following link - to a performance in which grown ups act out the Christmas story, as recalled by a succession of children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLH4mYbseI4.
Once you have it enjoyed it, why not share it with someone who doesn't normally attend a Christmas service and then invite them along to church to hear the actual account from the Scriptures? Enjoy!
