Dreaming of Christmas

"And the virgin shall conceive and bring forth a son and shall call his name Immanuel, which means "God with us".

With these words the prophet Isaiah initiates an expectation, which finds fulfilment many centuries later. That much is history. What may have surprised the prophet, would be how his words still resonate thousands of years after his utterance.

For weeks, families and schools and churches have gathered to sing carols and enjoy Nativity plays

in celebration of Jesus' coming, his promise to come again and his continual coming into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
