Just over a week ago, millions from all around the world gathered in their localities in a global expression of outrage at the failure of politicians to take sufficient action in response to the evidence of climate change. Two things struck me about the protest nearest to me: the scarcity of young people and the lack of a visible church presence. There may be good reasons for both but it made me think about how significant a stake these two constituencies have in the whole issue: the church, as witness to creation belonging to the Lord who made it and commissioned humankind to look after it, and young people, who are next in line to inherit the privilege and responsibility.
