Special K
Thanks to everybody who sponsored my participation in the Edinburgh 10k Charity Run. Christian athletes are haunted by the uncompromising Sabbatarian principles of Eric Liddle, immortalised in the classic film 'Chariots of Fire'. I succumbed to the invitation of my sister, Katrina (Special K), to run on Sunday 3 December because it was her birthday and she wanted to express her appreciation to Crossreach, the Church of Scotland's in-house charity, on account of their kindness towards our Uncle John, for whom she is primary carer. Earlier this year, Alzheimers Disease robbed Uncle John of his independence and he had to move into a home. The first attempt, in an expensive private institution, was not a success but then a vacancy appeared in The Elms, run by Crossreach, where he has been very happy.
