Fanning the flames

"For our God is a consuming fire..." Hebrews, chapter 12, verse 29
What is more elemental than fire? It blesses us with warmth and heat. Yet it is greedy for fuel and, once it gets going, can be as uncompromising as it is unstoppable. What does that tell us about God, in reference to the above quotation from the Bible? If we remember that God is also pure love,
then that means his fierce love will eradicate everything that stands in the way of his purposes and that is good news - even if daunting!
Lent is an appropriate time to invite the fire of God's love into our lives, to purge away all that should not be there. Be blessed indeed!
