The morning after...

"Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old." Matthew 13.52

We've never had a Mothering Sunday like it. We've never had a Sunday like it: no church services throughout the land (with one or two notorious exceptions!). But fascinating it was to witness how people responded. The creative juices were certainly flowing... Reports came in from around Strath & Sleat - of a remote gathering in Kyleakin via zoom, of a virtual Sunday School courtesy of Cailean John and Bàbaidh in Sleat and of an instagram video by the Sleat YV. Meanwhile Broadford and Kyleakin churches were open for solitary prayer and praise and for volunteers to collect church magazines and "help cards" for distribution to members and adherents. Circumstances will change and so must the way we live, worship and witness. As the verse above reassures us, followers of Jesus have the capacity to to be innovative and consistent simultaneously. That's what this episode requires of us and, in the grace of God and the power of his Spirit, that is what his people will deliver.

Creator God,

we praise you for your unending artistry,

so gloriously expressed in every sunset and sunrise,

no two the same,

every night, every day - a gift.

Rinn thu sinn nad iomhaigh-fhèin.

Cuidich thu dhuinn a chur an cèill

gràs shàbhalaidh Ìosa,

anns gach dòigh, anns gach suidheachadh.

Gu glòir d' ainm. Amen
