“As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show them my wonders.” Exodus 7.15
For all the doom and gloom, warning and imprecations, Micah - like his fellow prophets - preaches a message of hope, by proclaiming God's judgment on sin with God's redemption of his faithful people. The message is as clear as it is obvious: make sure you are on the right side, by aligning yourself with the community of faith. Not the community of the perfect/ beautiful but the community of sinners who know their/ our need of a Saviour and who recognise Jesus as fulfilling that role. That does not mean we roll over and wait to be rescued. If the Israelites had done that they would still be slaves in Egypt! As Micah has reminded us at 6.8:
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
That is what following Jesus to the Promised Land of the New Creation involves.
