Planting in autumn

"So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." 1 Corinthians 3.7

Spring tends to be the time when farmers plant their crops. But, for sowers of the gospel, the time is always now - in season or out of season. Strath & Sleat is in the business of planting. Today we look forward to a baptism, the official launch of Breakfast Church for families in Broadford and continuing to trial Café Church in Elgol. While we hope for a healthy turn-out of friends and neighbours at the baptism, numbers attending the new gatherings are likely to be modest. But that is our situation.

We believe that God has inspired us to take these initiatives and we trust him for their increase. In similar fashion, we cannot force an infant to grow up to be a believer, yet we bring our children to be baptised in the trust and hope that God will receive them, nurture them and bring them into full fellowship as followers of Jesus. We walk by faith and not by sight because we have a reliable guide, for whom nothing is an obstacle and all things are possible - including winter harvests!
